Popped in here on a Friday night recently and really enjoyed it! About an hour before close and they were busy but service was great. We were tempted by some of the tots starters but stayed with our burgers...I had a patty melt and my companion had a burger. Both were well prepared and tasted great! Had a real neighborhood feel. This restaurant is in a cluster of places in a mini courtyard. Parking is either on the street, or if you go around back there's a ramp down to parking below. Be careful not to park in the reserved spots. Meters on the street stop taking money at six, so that's where we ended up.

Today I was craving a big fat burger. I hadn't eaten all day so it was time. I love this location on Ocean Park Blvd in Santa Monica. It's got an easy breezy neighborhood vibe. Teo was my waiter. Super friendly. I sat outside because it was empty and wanted my solitude. My burger took a minute because I ordered very well done. That was fine because I wasn't in a hurry and it was beautiful outside. Along with my burger I got sweet potato fries that came with the most amazing dipping sauce. I ate every single bite it was absolutely delicious. It was a great experience as always and of course I'll be back.

Imagine. The world is your oyster. And so is your burger. Being a gluten free girl when I saw the menu was compatible we zoomed to the Counter and were at first slightly overwhelmed, but then were pleasantly surprised. There are two menus. One which is a premade menu, and the other a build your own. The server informed us they were known for a build your own burger, so we sent it. When I tell you they have everything, they have everything to add to your burger. You want corn with that burger? They got you. Corn bean salsa? Duh. Pineapple? Obviously I got a bbq custom gluten free chicken burger and was not disappointed. Tears *almost* came to my eyes. Felt more American than I have for awhile given my lack of burgers. Anyway, would come back. Plus the servers were awesome.

Such a cute place for an AMAZING burger!! They have many burger options as well as BYOB (build your own burger) We came around 7:00pm & it was slightly empty. The servers were kind & fast in preparing our food! They also have a bar area & TV's if you ever want a beer, burger, & watch some games! Now for the food: Jalapeño Bacon Cheddar (no bacon, but w/ mushrooms) & sourdough bread 8/10: the meat was beautifully cooked medium rare, it was a bit very greasy overall, but was very tasty! Personally I enjoyed the sourdough bread MORE because it was nice & toasty Great place to check out for my burger lovers out there! Lots of great meat options like bison!

Love coming here with the family. Friendly service, yummy burgers/salads and beer flights, and fun atmosphere overall! Definitely recommend coming here to customize your own burger/salad. They offer a wide variety of toppings so it's never boring and utterly fun and delicious! If you're like me and tend to check off a majority of the toppings, then you'll have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Beer Flight - 5/5 So fun! Half & Half Fries - 5/5 Perfectly seasoned and crispy Chocolate Shake - 5/5 So good! Custom Burgers & Salads - 5/5 Yummy!

The Counter is a classic; you're almost definitely going to love it because it's a build your own kind of place which basically means you hate your own taste if you hate what you get . I'm joking of course, as there's a few prebuilt options on the menu that the other Yelpers can fill you in on, but I'm here for the create your own option because if you want to bloat on a burger, this is your place to do it. If you add a zajillion choices into your burger, they will stack them into your burger. I have not once ordered a Counter burger that I can actually take a full bite of and bae laughs so hard at my face when I spend the first minute staring at a Counter burger attempting to do the inevitable. I've never actually stooped so low as to cut my burger with a fork and knife but... the thought has crossed my mind. Best part of the Counter? They know how to cook their patties. If you order medium rare- you will get medium rare. Check out the pick of my burger for yourself, that glint of pinkish-red in the middle is a shout-out to their consistency. Looking for good local fries? Every now and then I want something different from my usual preferred healthy foods and crave a good fry. We go looking for well-done fries and while I'm more a fan of Santa Monica The Misfit or BPO for truffle fries, the Counter always has crispy fries! I'd pass on sweet potato fries here and go to HDL or Ardi's in Century City instead.
