An interesting but good hole-in-the-wall Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. I can't believe I've never noticed this restaurant before, and I grew up about 7 blocks away!!!! My husband found this place on Yelp when we searched for Vietnamese food near us. This place had great reviews, and so were slightly interested in trying it, not sure what to expect. I got #39 - Sliced Beef with Ho Fun and Egg Noodle Soup. You can choose between thick or thin egg noodles, and soup separate or with the noodles. I ended up choosing the thick egg noodles, and soup separate - so my bowl came with "dry" noodles, and soup on the side. I really liked it!!! The noodles were so yummy - came with crispy garlic bits at the top. Still can taste it in my mouth hours later lol. The only downer was that it was quite salty on the bottom of the bowl - I probably should have mixed it prior to eating the noodles. My husband got the Duck with Ho Fun and Egg Noodle Soup, with thick noodles, and broth with the noodles. His dish was great too! We also shared a fried fish cake appetizer, which is something I usually wouldn't order, but it tasted great. My daughter loved munching on it too. The hours are weird here - open 10am - 6:30pm. Very strange, but I'm glad we caught when they were open for dinner. Great hole in the wall restaurant, if you're craving a dry noodle soup.

My companion asked what I was craving and with it being a rainy day, soup was on my mind. He took us to Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia as he'd come here as a teen. The restaurant is no-frills and gives a neighborhood Asian spot vibe to it. Inside, Asian decor plasters the walls, local families and couples dining in, and a quiet ambiance to it aside from occasional overheard conversations. I didn't interact with the staff much as my companion did that for us. Though the service was efficient in getting our order placed and food out, it just took a while for us to pay. Being it my first time, I wasn't sure what to get. I ordered a Nghiep Ky Wonton Ho Fun Soup while my companion had the Nghiep Ky Won Ton Egg Noodle Soup. I will say the portion and amount of protein they put is great; I could only eat half. The clear broth was warm and soothing while the quality of the proteins was decent but not flavorful. Luckily the sides and condiments helped add flavor. The noodles were plentiful, soft, and slippery but I preferred the texture and taste of my companions. Sunset district has plenty of Asian eateries, for those looking for comforting soup and noodles Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia is affordable and will fill your belly. There's metered street parking around since they're off Noriega Street.

Been coming to Thai Nghiep for around 5 years now. Every time I come here I always leave happy. The staff are always very amazing. Food here is also great. I usually get the dry seafood fish ball noodles with both types of noodles. Ingredients are always fresh highly recommended this place for a quick bite!

Came here for lunch with friends and it wasn't too busy on a weekend. My first time here and I got the #9 and it was really yummy. I love hu tieu style dishes and this was it. I like that there was a side of soup to go with it so it's not as dry. I prefer to have my protein pre cut but since this was a duck leg, I had to take some time to shred the meat myself. They also gave us a free cup of soy milk! Their side of cucumbers were also tasty and a nice balance to the meal.

If you're a fan of Hy Kai Noodle in the Tenderloin and Vien Hong in Oakland then you'll like Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia. Similarly, they have the duck leg and egg noodles. I had the combination ho fun noodle soup and it hit the spot. Though it says Vietnamese cuisine, don't expect pho here. But they have many different noodle soups to choose from, The broth is clear and reminds you of a clean chicken broth. The noodles are flat rice noodles. Service was quick and food came out promptly. Tables are spread out along with mixture of booths. Don't forget the free soy milk. Street parking

Came here for lunch on a weekday and there were some people there but we were able to get seated right away. Great spot for a casual and affordable meal! The menu has no pictures but I looked at pictures of food on Yelp to figure out what I wanted. The waitress who took our order was such a nice older lady! Very sweet and kind. I got a #9 which was the braised duck leg with won ton ho fun soup. I got the soup on the side and I really enjoyed the dish. I liked the won tons and the duck was very tender and fell off the bone. I was able to eat it with only my chopsticks. It came with 2 kinds of noodles too, one was a flat rice noodle and the other was a flat egg noodle. Both were really good! Each table also has so many condiments! Soy sauce, black vinegar, hoisin, sriracha, chili crisp, pickled jalapenos and more. They had more condiments than any other Viet place I've been to and everything was very organized and clean!
