King Com Tam specializes in Com Tam, which is a dish with broken rice and assorted grilled meats. They also have dry noodle dishes such as banh hoi and bun. Com Tam Bi, Cha, Thit: Broken rice are the grains that have fractured during the milling process. In this dish, the dome of broken rice has a pleasing, sticky texture with more surface area for absorbing all the flavors. The grilled pork is sliced thin and tender. The shredded strands of pork and pork skin are dusted with toasted rice powder for subtle texture and flavor. The steamed egg is sort of like a meaty soufflé with glass noodles and wood ear mushrooms. The soft and slick scallions also build flavor in this dish. Pour the nuoc mam sauce to make the plate sweet, tangy, and savory. The pickled cabbage slices and sliced cucumber add a refreshing crunch. Banh Hoi Tom, Thit, Tau Hu Ky: The thin rice vermicelli patties form the base of the plate. The lattice shape offers a nice texture and mouthfeel. Its structure helps you wrap everything in a leaf of lettuce. Every lettuce wrap is slightly different. You can make a super wrap with grilled shrimp, grilled pork, bean curd shrimp cake, pickled carrots and daikon, and mint. It's a great mix of flavors and textures. Dining Area: There's almost 10 booths by the windows in front. Parking: There's a large parking lot for Hawaii Supermarket. There's also street parking out front.

Ok, so I've been on this new wave to try new restaurants. Thank you Yelp for Yelping! Without Yelp I wouldn't have come across this regal restaurant! King Com Tam took me back to the time I was in Saigon. The music, the decorations, and the style of food. I couldn't believe how fast the food came out as well. We sat, ordered, and by the time I took a breath my dish was being served. I've tried Bun Thit Nuong at every Vietnamese restaurant I go to. By a landslide victory, this was top 2! I immediately noticed their pork was done so different from others. I smelled the charr in the meat and the taste made me step back and look at it. The entire bowl left me in shock and awe. The banh beo was very delicious as well. The serving size was pretty generous too. My partner ordered the Bun Bo Hue and that too was extremely good. So good that She beckoned for me to try it! Everything was so good that we became curious as to what other patrons ordered. I'm so glad we stopped by this restaurant. It indeed exceeded our expectations and we will be coming back. Thank you King Com Tam!

This might be my favorite com tam place in SGV. I went here on a Sunday evening with my family and we got a seat right away. We order 3 of the #64 and 1 #106. My picky eater mom was impressed with the food and really likes the grilled pork chop that came with the rice. The rice dishes also came with a soup which was comforting on a cold night. The fish sauce that came with the com tam was pretty good too, not too salty or sweet. Service was friendly and fast. Parking is either street parking or the Hawaii market parking lot.

I came here seeking com tam but didn't want to travel all the way to Orange County. I ordered the pork chop plate and found the pork chop to be reddish and sweet, reminiscent of char sui. The steamed egg was substantial and firm. The dish also included dry noodles with thinly sliced pork and a sprinkling of some brown powder, offering a unique taste and texture that I had never experienced before. The homemade pickled vegetables (cabbage and cucumber) didn't appeal to me; the cabbage was tough, and the cucumber looked unappetizing. I took a bite and decided to pass on it. I particularly enjoyed the sweet pork chop and broken rice, accompanied by passion fruit soda. I really liked the fried fat bits on the rice. So yummy! It was great to discover a local com tam restaurant with a spacious interior and a diverse menu. For those having trouble finding street parking, I recommend parking at Hawaii supermarket. The atmosphere here is very cozy and welcoming. I noticed many elderly gentlemen, which I found interesting and enjoyable.

This spot appears to be the top choice for Com Tam (Vietnamese Broken Rice plates) in San Gabriel. Stopped in on a weekday afternoon for a quick lunch -- no lines, no fuss, immediate seating. I tried their Cơm Tấm KING Special Combo (10 Items) priced at $19.49 per order. I subbed the pork chop for beef rib for an additional $2.00. The plate was huge as it came with a generous scoop of broken rice, beef rib, egg cake, shrimp cake, Chinese sausages, fish cake, bbq grilled shrimp, pickled vegetables, and other items -- see photos attached. I finished half and packed the other half which I thoroughly enjoyed for dinner later that evening. Food was good but considering that I'm from the Bay Area, the standards are set high for Vietnamese food. Was it the best? No. Would I come back again? Sure - to try other menu items.

I come to this place often, I love Tony! He is such as great host and was always attentive whenever I've come to visit. Whenever it is busy, the servers are attentive and always make sure that the tables are clean and available. This is one of the best places (in my opinion), to get high quality and authentic Vietnamese food in the SGV. I've come here often and the food always hits the spot. Whenever I have at least $25 in my pocket, I make sure to always come here and order the #16 (king com tam special) that comes with 10 different sides and an extra $2 for ribs. Plus tax, this is around $23, and is immediately a bang for your buck! It is served with a complimentary ox tail soup with a warm and soothing broth that is a great addition with the com tam. This has been a popular spot for my date nights, and I've never walked out of this restaurant disappointed. Such big portions, great ambiance, and a friendly environment! Would highly-recommend for a first date, casual lunch, late dinner, or early breakfast. Wonderful experience all around!
