So, this place is the mother and father of the owner of Anna's Tequeria, which is my absolute favorite taco place. This menu is a quite a bit more robust and you simply can't go wrong with.

If you want authentic street tacos, this is your place! There is a huge variety of ingredients to choose from. They even have a killer deal for those who are ultra hungry and can polish off a plate of 10 tacos!

We got there very close to closing but they still accommodated us and took our food orders and no attitude from the server! The place seems modern and spacious and very clean. The Molcajete we ordered was unexpectedly huge, enough for two people and it was good, but nothing to really rave about. Our friends ordered some appetizers I didn't get to take a picture of and they were also good. All in all, we had a good dining experience. The food was filling, the drinks just right and the environment relaxed and clean. Definitely one of the nicer Mexican cuisine places we've been to.

This is still my fave Mexican food around! Having spent my teens into my early 20s in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I developed a love for Mexican food from every region of that country. Most people are only familiar with the standard Tex-Mex style and I love that, too...but, this place features a completely different style, which is also the closest thing to the classic New Mexico style that I grew up with. As I said in my original review, on the cover of the menu, they write, "The real taste of Mexico". The cuisine features the Guadalajara region of Mexico. They still give you a unique taste treat after you're seated. Rather than the standard chips and salsa, you get a Gordita...delicious freshly fried clouds of corn flour that are topped with sour cream and grated Cotija cheese, along with their red and green sauces. Having eaten there numerous times, I always ask for their extra spicy Diablo sauce to accompany mine. My favorite entrée after all these years is the Chamorro Adobado ($17.99) [Marinated pork shank roasted served with refried or whole beans and rice garnished with pico de gallo and your choice of tortilla (3)] Not listed are the amazing pickled red onions served on top! SO tender, fall off the bone deliciousness...it's hard for me to order anything else (although I do occasionally) because of how good this is! I've had many other dishes, but this is my go-to. The Molcajete is outstanding, as is their Ceviche...oh, hell...everything is delicious! They still finish your meal with a complimentary piece of Tres Leches cake. Their margaritas are amazing. Unfortunately, they don't carry some of my favorite Mexican beers anymore that they used to stock, but it's still a good selection. They usually have Mango Jarritos ($2.99). Almost every Mexican restaurant carries Jarritos, but, not all of them have Mango...love it. Always large portions...you get what you pay for and it's always done great. Service is always on point and friendly. Get on over here to see for yourself!

(This review is for our experience on 3.17.23) I wanted to note that I noticed this was in my "Drafts" section and I just didn't post it! How terribly late of me. Well here is the review I meant to post Months ago. :P -- This has always been on our list to try, and I'm glad my wife made the suggestion to go tonight. As we entered the restaurant, an aroma of deliciousness filled the air for an open kitchen was the first thing to welcome us in. We were quickly seated and we both just admired the atmosphere and art on the walls. Not too long after, our server introduced herself and took our drink order as well as dropped off two Gorditas drizzled in a cream sauce along with a green and red salsa. We both very much enjoyed the appetizer as we dipped it in the salsas. The verde salsa actually had more of a kick than the red salsa, but both tasted amazing. As we peered through their menu, I noticed something that caught my eye! And it was their Chile En Nogada which was described as: "2 poblano peppers stuffed with a mixture of meat and dried fruit, covered in walnut sauce, topped with pomegranate, asparagus and veggies on the side". I quickly skimmed through the rest of the menu but it was already decided that I'd try that dish for I've never seen that item at any other Mexican restaurants here in Reno. Our server came by to take our order and she was very helpful and patient. My wife ordered the Combo #4 which came with a chili relleno and a soft taco (chicken) served with rice and refried beans. I ordered *surprise-surprise* the Chile En Nogada. We didn't wait long until our food arrived and did everything look and smell amazing! My wife clearly loved her meal because she left her plate clean. My dish was exceptionally good. The meat was savory, yet the walnut sauce was sweet and the pomegranates added a fruity and crunchy texture to every bite! I first thought having strawberries would be an odd item but I was wrong. Everything seemed to go, weirdly enough, very well together. It's definitely something I will order from now on. To finish things off, when our waitress dropped off the check, she also brought us complimentary churros! What a sweet and perfect way to end the meal! As my wife and I will be moving to Hawaii next month, it's bittersweet that we found this amazing restaurant knowing that we won't be able to eat here as often as our other local favorite food spots. Regardless, with my wife's family living here, whenever we do visit Reno, Anna's will be a must-go-to restaurant for us!
